*ALLERGY ALERT:

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We would like your help in consideration of other students with life threatening allergies. MLE has students with multiple food allergies.  Peanuts, tree nuts, shell fish, fish and eggs are some of the most common.  Please remind your students after eating breakfast and lunch to clean the food off of their hands and wash their hands before coming to school.  Peanut butter is especially important to wash away carefully. It easily gets on hands and then onto other things that are touched.  If they have even a small amount of the allergen (like peanut butter) on their hands and come through the front doors of the school and an allergic child touches the door and later puts their hand in their mouth, they may have a life threatening allergic reaction.  If they touch their eyes, they may have a less severe but uncomfortable reaction. Some children have recently had reactions that probably happened this way.

The great benefit from thorough hand washing is less germs! Please remind your students that cleaning food allergens off their hands is an important step before coming to school to protect other Martha Lake Mustangs.

If your student brings lunch, be aware of what classmates are allergic to and sit at a different table than them if they brought the food that could cause the other student a problem. Then wash their hands after eating, too.

Thank you for your help and consideration in keeping all students healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Tammy Beddoe RN, BSN

Certificated School Nurse.

*Thank You for the New Signs in Front of the School!

Thanks to PTA, and your support of PTA, we were able to get new signs in front of the school for the parking lot/drive through area of Martha Lake.
