Hello, Martha Lake Mustangs!

Theme for January– Lemons or Lemonade

This Week: The Little Engine That Could

Have you thought of talking with your student about the theme of "Lemons or Lemonade."   This upcoming week’s message and activities focus on positive thinking, attitudes affect the outcome, and overcoming obstacles. They connect to our school-wide expectations of Mustangs are responsible.
Have you asked your Martha Lake Mustang how they have shown they can be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe at school and in the community?

The Little Engine That Could is a favorite story about a train full of toys that needs to be pulled over the top of a big mountain. All the big engines refuse to pull the train, but the Little Engine is brave and agrees to give it a try saying “I think I can, I think I can.” With repeated tries and a positive attitude, the Little Engine makes it over the mountain top and delivers toys to the children on the other side. The Little Engine kept going and made it!

Sometimes, the problems we face in life feel like a big mountain to climb. This story reminds us that when life Is difficult, it’s important to be brave enough to do our very best – even when it’s scary and hard.

January 29 Enhanced Security Features Begin at MLE

We begin enhanced school security at Martha Lake Elementary on Monday, January 29, 2018. Doors of the school will be locked at 8:50 am, and open again at 3:11 pm.

To get inside the school, come to front doors nearest the flag pole. Press the white button at the panel on the far right side of the blue double-doors. The Martha Lake office will be able to see you and talk with you. They can press a button to unlock the door to the far right and let you in.

You must still come to the main office, sign in, and get a visitor/volunteer badge. The enhanced security measures do not replace signing in/out at the office every time.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments at:, or via the contact information below. We are here to help.

School Meals: Can You Help Students in Need?

Donations needed to pay down meal debts

We have a LOT of need for donations. Please consider helping. You can specify Martha Lake Elementary families, or any school you choose. If you don’t choose, donations are paid to the overall school lunch debt fund and don’t specifically benefit Martha Lake. Did you know that students who have applied for free/reduced lunch, but haven’t been approved yet still accrue a debt for those meals? Your donations will help with this.

Donations can be made online at Funds can be designated for a particular school or be designated to go in the district meal donation fund account to be used for any family that needs assistance.

Thank you for considering donating to help students who need help with lunch money!

If you have questions, please contact Jill Harrison at 425-431-7076.
