PRINCIPAL's Message

Greetings Martha Lake Families:

It is with great pleasure that I write to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2018-2019 school year at Martha Lake Elementary.  I hope that your summer has been filled with fun family activities enjoyed at a leisurely pace under beautiful, blue skies filled with sunshine.  How quickly summer concludes and our thoughts turn to eagerly preparing for the commencement of another school year. This is always an exciting time of the year!  I eagerly await welcoming our new families and students and catching up with great summer stories and memories with returning families and students.

The Martha Lake staff is committed and dedicated to providing the best educational learning experiences to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, explore, laugh, build relationships, and discover their passions in learning about the world. We are passionate and committed to inspiring all students to be great by making every day at Martha Lake engaging, meaningful, and relevant to their lives.

We invite families to become partners in their child’s education and to participate in our school community. As a member of our community, you are always welcome to visit our campus and find out what makes Martha Lake a special place for children to learn. I am honored and feel very fortunate to be able to serve the Martha Lake community of families and staff who are committed to supporting every child in growing socially, emotionally, and academically. We have several events planned for the months of September and October so you can become acquainted with the staff and me along with other families.

  • PTA General Meeting – Thursday, September 13th
  • Welcome Back Assembly – Friday, September 14th
  • Back to School Night – Thursday, September 27th
  • WatchDOGS Pizza Night – Thursday, October 11th
  • Individual Picture Day – Thursday, October 18th
  • PTA Glow Run – Thursday, October 18th

My staff and I have thoughtfully considered the best classroom placement for every student. However, please know all class assignments are tentative until after the fourth day count when the total enrollment is known. In the unlikely event that any changes must be made, you will be contacted after the district administrative meeting during the second week of school.

In the meantime, the staff and I are anxious to greet our Martha Lake students and get about the wonderful business of school. We are looking forward to working with our families to provide an excellent education for every child. The teachers and I welcome communication from parents and caregivers regarding specific information you feel would be helpful to best work with your student. My e-mail is Trexelt@edmonds.wednet.edu and my phone number is 425-431-7765.

I look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,

Tom Trexel
